Seizing Advantage in the Downturn

The world is in the midst of the most challenging economic environment in five decades. And while the scale and complexity of the situation is unprecedented, history has shown that downturns of all shapes and sizes provide the best opportunities to those who take swift action. The best organizations already know that hunkering down will not lead to prosperity. True leaders are beginning to not only focus on operations blocking and tackling, but also developing organizational agility to be prepared to take advantage of opportunities as they appear.

Many of our clients are well on their way to positioning themselves for what’s next. They recognize they must not only rapidly adjust their operating models – building the plane in the air so to speak – but also continue to develop strategic imperatives that can improve their competitive position as the economy begins its next phase.

In many conversations with our clients’ senior leaders, they not only tell me about their need to be lean and agile but also their need to continue to deploy technology solutions, develop new products and services, prepare the organization for the “new normal” and to intelligently manage capital and human resources so as to remain viable.
