Mobile Medicine Site Gives Patients Speedy, Expert Information on the Go
According to a recent article published in The Wall Street Journal, Dr. Chris Murphy, an orthodontist in Phoenix, AZ, has announced the release of a new mobile website that provides reliable and accurate medical information to patients “on the go.” Dr. Murphy reported that the mobile site will give access to in-depth procedural details, recovery expectations, and contact information regardless of a patient’s geographical location.
The reasoning behind developing the mobile site, according to Dr. Murphy, is to make his expertise available outside of the office so patients can make informed treatment decisions. Statistics released from the Journal of General Internal Medicine revealed that 53.5 percent of patients use the Internet to find medical information, and 71.3 percent of those users are satisfied with what they find online. Dr. Murphy stated that he is aware of how often patients turn to the Internet for all types of medical information and he strives to be on the cutting edge of patient care. Based off his full webpage, the mobile site consists of the same detailed information, but is designed with an easy-to-navigate mobile format. The full webpage and mobile site are two of the social media initiatives Dr. Murphy’s practice has taken to improve patient access to procedural and treatment information.
Dr. Murphy is not the only medical professional putting out a mobile medical site; Marketwire reported that Dr. Thomas Lintner, a plastic surgeon in Atlanta, has released a user-friendly mobile site dedicated to providing counsel to patients in their search for the right procedure. Both doctors agree that any information found on a mobile medical site should be partnered with the guidance of a certified practice.
